Almost there

We have made it to Tokyo! Next stop Beijing. It is 6:30 pm here now and our flight leaves at 8:20 pm. We should arrive in Beijing at 11:20 pm. I am definitely ready to hit the hay! We have a meeting at 8 in the morning and will then take a pedicab tour and visit the Great Wall of China. Busy day!! Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes for a safe trip for me. So far everything has been wonderful. I just miss my baby girl!

Tomorrow's the Big Day!!

I cannot believe it, but the big day is almost here!  I'm leaving the house at 6 in the morning to catch a 9:20 a.m. flight to Seattle.  From Seattle we will fly to Tokyo (10 hours) and then after a 4 hour layover fly to Beijing (4 hours).  After all the flying and layovers, we will arrive in Beijing at 11:20 p.m. local time on Friday night (10:20 a.m. here on Friday morning).  It is definitely going to be a lot of traveling, but I am looking forward to taking it all in.  On Saturday morning we will be taking a pedicab tour of Old Beijing and will go to the Great Wall of China that afternoon.  I hope the hotel will have Wi-Fi so I can continue to post on the blog about all that I saw that day.  I doubt I'll be able to post pictures unless I can somehow post from my phone, but I promise plenty of pictures will be posted to Facebook when I get home.  Say a little prayer for me in the morning and I will talk to you all later!

One Month until Takeoff

I am starting this blog in order to share details of my upcoming trip to China and also to help record my daily activities so that I can go back to them when I am writing my paper for my class.  As most of you probably know, I am a graduate student at Arkansas State University, working to obtain my Master of Business Administration.

I am taking an independent study course called "Doing Business in China" which will take me to Beijing, Xi'an, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong.  The trip is 50% business and 50% sightseeing.  The headquarters of Hyundai and the Royal Bank of Scotland are a couple of the businesses we will visit that I am aware of right now.  On the sightseeing side, the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City in Beijing are two of the many historical places we plan to see.

I am excited and anxious about the trip because of the length (10 days) that I will be away from my daughter and husband.  Prayers and encouragement are welcome!!  I will takeoff for the other side of the world one month from tomorrow (June 9th).  My goal is to open my language books and try to prepare myself to not look so "touristy."  If you have been to any of these places and have any advice to give me, I would appreciate it!

God bless,
April
